Winning entry for Lawn stripes competition 2016

The 2016 Allett Creative Stripes Competition - The Winners

All three of our 2016 Allett Creative Stripes competition winners have now received their winning garden cylinder mowers - three top quality cylinder mowers from our Homeowner Range. The 2016 competition was open to the Professional/Domestic (Homeowner) users and attracted entries from all over the world. The competition aims to unite passionate groundsmen and gardeners and enables them to show off their creativity to the world.
  1. 1st place- An Allett Kensington with its whole range of cartridges (Verticutter, Scarifier, Aerator, Lawn brush, Dethatcher, 6/10 bladed cylinder + 2 cartridge stands)
  2. 2nd prize- an Allett Kensington
  3. 3rd prize- an Allett Sandringham
In 1st Place was Jonathan Thompson, Head Groundsman at Mount St John Estate -a private estate set in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside in England. John works as part of a small grounds team and spent months designing his final entry with a ride on mower before using an Allett RM34 Rotary Mower for his final design. Jonathan looks after all the grass at the estate and now has an Allett Kensington to use on the more formal lawns. "We felt it really had the WOW factor and was very clever and creative. We loved the way the stripes worked with the landscape features and trees. We felt the quality of cut and evenness of stripes was meticulous" (Simon Bagnall's Feedback) 2nd Place went to Dan Hibbert, a gardener from Bolton. Dan recently won Britain's Best Lawn so is no stranger to winning lawn stripes competitions. Dan used the same grass seed as Premier League football clubs - all sown by hand in order to maintain this award winning lawn. This lawn was owned by one of his clients - an accountant from Bolton who is over the moon with the accolades achieved in 2016. "We loved the second place design and felt the quality and colour of the grass looked superb. We were splitting hairs in the end, but felt that the straightness of some of the stripes in no 5 was just a little off and sadly meant in our eyes it came second" (Simon Bagnall's Feedback) 3rd place went to Kev Morgan, a train conductor from Exeter. Kev used a water butt lid to create his circular design. He used an Allett Classic after finding his rotary wasn't giving him the quality of cut he required. Find a video interview with Kev HERE. Kev has decided to donate his winning garden cylinder mower; an Allett Sandringham to the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust - a charity dedicated to empowering children young people and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities, providing them with life-changing opportunities and advocating their needs. "We have cut our main Quad at Worcester college in concentric circles before and know hard this is to do well , so were therefore impressed to see this done so well in such a small space. This must have taken great skill and precision! We also noticed the child”™s swing in the garden. We were again very impressed that the owner had managed such a good lawn with a young family running over it too"
